Is Benjamin Moore Silver Satin Warm or Cool?
Well, it’s a slightly difficult question to answer! And let me tell you, it all depends on the incoming natural light conditions. In my books, BM Silver Satin has a warm gray undertone to it. However, it isn’t overly warm or a traditional warm paint color as well! Meanwhile, this color can readily look cool in the north-facing rooms (we will discuss it slightly later in the color review).

For instance, try placing a swatch of BM Silver Satin against BM Moonshine and BM Classic Gray. You’ll observe that BM Silver Satin is less warmer than the cousin, BM Classic Gray. Meanwhile, it is definitely warmer than BM Moonshine which has a cool green undertone. So, BM Silver Satin definitely falls on the neutral end of the scale and if you’d like an off-white paint color that isn’t too warm or too cool, this is definitely it!
Does Benjamin Moore Silver Satin Look Purple?
Well, yes! Benjamin Moore Silver Satin has the tendency to appear slightly purple due to its undertones. Especially with the cool incoming natural light, this off-white can readily showcase a wink of purple undertone to it. Moreover, it also depends upon the existing hardwood flooring, natural stone countertops, and other decor elements in the room.

For instance, try placing a swatch of BM Silver Satin and BM Chantilly Lace. You’ll observe that the former paint color does reflect just a touch of violet undertone to it. And this undertone is what makes this paint color feel slightly cooler under certain lighting conditions.
What are the Undertones of Benjamin Moore Silver Satin?
Benjamin Moore Silver Satin is a versatile and beautiful off-white with a warm gray base to it. The touch of violet undertones can prove to be chameleon since this color can also flash a touch of ‘green’ when exposed to a large, lush lawn. So, if you’re particularly fond of the violet or pink (taupe) undertone in an off-white paint color, only then you may choose Benjamin Moore Silver Satin. But note that the undertones aren’t very dominant in this paint color. Even though it’s a soft gray in an off-white that leans into violet and warm gray undertones, it may appear slightly cool or warm under certain lighting conditions. Moreover, BM Silver Satin can look lovely in homes that have neutrals, pastels, white oak accents, gentle grays, and crisp whites. Avoid this color in homes that have golden or yellow oak, terracotta accents, and warm beiges.
Silver Satin Benjamin Moore can tend to appear slightly different under different lighting conditions – but not majorly dominant though. In general, you can use this color in any compass direction but you must know how it will end up looking.
